Today’s post will be a short one. I’d been wanting to write a song that uses a hymn I love and puts it in a modern context. I love the hymn “Grace, Greater Than Our Sin” and so I started jamming with this chorus on my guitar and playing around with the rhythm. I wanted to get into the question “what is grace, anyway?” – and the chorus evolved into THIS IS grace, grace – God’s grace!
Grace that will pardon and cleanse within
THIS IS grace, grace – God’s grace
Grace that is greater than… and while grace certainly is greater than all my sin, I wanted to go more general…
where I’ve been
But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)
I know you’re carrying a load so heavy, it feels like you’re gonna break
There’s a plan and a purpose; your life will be worth it
And you’ll get through today.
This is grace.
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

When you find forgiveness, try as you might to deserve it
